LINCOLN, Neb. - Two players with Lincoln Stars ties were selected to participate in the 2018 CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game on September 19 at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn., USA Hockey announced today.

Incoming forward Shane Pinto and affiliate forward Garrett Pinoniemi will help comprise 42 of the best American-born players eligible for the 2019 NHL Draft as decided by USA Hockey and NHL Central Scouting. Since the inception of the CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game in 2012, 155 alumni have been selected in the NHL Draft including 28 players last year.

"Shane and Garrett have earned this honor and will follow past Stars players who have proudly represented the Lincoln Stars and the USHL in this game," said Stars General Manager Jon Hull.

Pinto, 17, played 54 games with the South Kent Selects Hockey Academy during the 2017-18 season, tallying 34 goals and 31 assists for 65 points with 24 penalty minutes. The Franklin Square, N.Y., native helped the Selects Hockey Academy to the 2018 USA Hockey U18 National Championship and committed to the University of North Dakota. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound forward was selected 330th overall (21st Round) by the Stars in the 2017 USHL Phase II Draft.

Pinoniemi, 17, totaled 13 goals and 37 assists for 50 points with 20 penalty minutes through 46 games between Holy Family Catholic High School and Team Northwest in the 2017-18 season. The Delano, Minn., product was invited to USA Hockey Selects Camp in each of the last three seasons and is committed to St. Cloud State University. The 5-foot-10, 141-pound forward was selected 7th overall (1st Round) by the Stars in the 2017 USHL Phase I Draft.

Both Pinto and Pinoniemi help comprise 34 of the 42 players with USHL ties at the event. Last year, five Stars players were selected to participate in the 2017 CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game, and three of those players were selected in the 2018 NHL Draft.

The Stars open the 2018-19 home schedule on Friday, Oct. 5 at 7:05 p.m. against the Omaha Lancers.
