Long Island Ducks News Release
(Staten Island, N.Y.) - The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Staten Island FerryHawks 4-3 on Wednesday night in the middle game of a three-game series at Staten Island University Hospital Community Park.
Kevin Krause's two-out, two-run home run to left field off Ducks starter Stephen Tarpley gave Staten Island an early 2-0 lead in the first inning. It stayed that way until the sixth when Long Island took a 3-2 lead on Brantley Bell's two-run triple to left-center and Alejandro De Aza's RBI infield single to shortstop. Staten Island went back in front for good in the seventh on a two-out, two-run triple to left-center by Brandon Pugh.
Neither starter factored into the decision. Tarpley threw six innings of two-run ball, allowing four hits and a walk while striking out seven. Remington pitched five scoreless innings, yielding four hits and five walks with two strikeouts. Enrique Santana (1-0) picked up the win with one and two-thirds innings of scoreless relief, giving up two walks with one strikeout. Joe Kuzia (2-3) took the loss, conceding two runs on two hits and a walk in one inning. Williams Ramirez earned his first save of the season with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
De Aza led the Ducks offensively with three hits and an RBI. Bell added a hit, two RBIs and a run, while Chance Sisco drew four walks.
