Erie Otters News Release
The Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League play a pair of games this weekend to wrap up a busy week of action. Tonight (Friday) the Otters travel to Kitchener to face the Rangers before returning home Saturday to meet the Saginaw Spirit at the Tullio Arena in a 7:30 p.m. start.
Tickets for Saturday's game, with the first 2,500 fans receiving a free snack wrap courtesy of McDonald's, are available at the Civic Center Box Office, all Erie-area Ticketmaster locations, on-line at www.ottershockey.com or by calling 814-452-4857. In addition, one lucky fan will have the opportunity to shoot for $5,000 in the FOX 66 Bank Shot.
The Otters head to Kitchener following a 4-0 home loss to the Owen Sound Attack on Wednesday to drop to 3-15-1-1. The loss extended the Otters losing streak to 14 games (0-12-1-1) and their home losing streak to five games (0-5-0-0). The shutout setback marked the third time the Otters have been blanked this season.
The Rangers head into this week's action with an OHL best record of 17-3 and have lost only once in their last 12 games. Justin Azevedo is the Rangers top point getter with 12 goals and 27 assists for 39 points in 19 games to rank tied for second in OHL scoring. The fourth-year forward's 27 assists are tied for the most in the OHL. Line mates Matt Halischuk (9-25-34) and Nick Spaling (20-14-34) are also listed among the OHL's top-10 scorers.
The game, which can be heard live on FOX Sports Radio AM 1330 The FAN and on-line at www.ottershockey.com (presented by the James H. Cross Company) beginning with the pre-game show at 7:15 p.m., will represent the fourth of eight meetings between the two teams this season. Kitchener won the three previous meetings including a narrow 4-3 overtime decision on November 2nd in Kitchener.
The Saginaw Spirit entered weekend action with a record of 7-8-2-1 prior to their game Friday in Mississauga. The Spirit features five players who have averaged more than a point-per-game this season including leading scorer Jack Combs.
