
Two Houston Dash Players Advance to Round of 16 in 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup

Earlier this week, the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup wrapped up group play. With two Houston Dash players advancing to the knockout stage of the tournament.
Forward Michelle Alozie and Nigeria battled Ireland for a 0-0 draw. Alozie played the full 90 minutes and was an integral part of Nigeria's success in the group stages.
Canada's World Cup run ended with a 4-0 loss to co-hosts Australia. Midfielder Sophie Schmidt and defender Allysha Chapman entered the game at half time.
Argentina's World Cup run ended in a with a 2-0 loss to Sweden with forward Paulina Gramaglia being available off the bench.
Brazil and Jamaica faced off in a thrilling back and forth that ended in a scoreless draw. Midfielder Andressa, who represents the Verde-Amarela, entered the match in the 81st minute and nearly scored off a free kick. Havana Solaun and the Reggae Girlz continue to write history, advancing to the Round of 16 for the first time in their country's history.
Michelle Alozie and Nigeria will face England and former Houston Dash forward Rachel Daly in the first knockout round. Havana Solaun and Jamaica will take on Colombia.
