Two For The Road

October 18, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release

Showdown: Although it's very early in the Central Hockey League season, the Tulsa Oilers have a first place showdown in their first of two road games this week. The Oilers travel to Bossier-Shreveport for a 6:35 p.m. contest Tuesday. Each team has won its first two games. On Saturday the Oilers will take on their first former International Hockey League team, when they visit the Bloomington Prairie Thunder at 7:05 p.m.

Great Start: The 2010-11 season got underway on the right foot for the Oilers who swept an opening weekend home and home set with the Wichita Thunder. On Friday the Oilers overcame a 2-0 deficit in a 4-3 win and on Saturday used a three goal third period en route to a 4-1 win.

Two For Two: In each game last weekend, the Oilers had a player score two goals. Harrison Reed scored the club's first two goals of the season, in the first period Friday night. Gary Steffes notched a pair of goals on Saturday.

Short Stuff: Mike Beausoleil scored a rare shorthanded goal on Saturday night. With the Oilers trailing 3-2 and on a two man disadvantage, Beausoleil lifted a shot from the right point that eluded Wichita goaltender Ian Keserich, tying the game on the Oilers two-man shorthanded goal.

Special Stuff: The Oilers special teams played a key role in last weekend's two wins. The Oilers have killed nine of 10 shorthanded situations (including scoring a shorthanded goal) for a 90 percent penalty killing efficiency. On the flipside, the Oilers scored three power play goals in 10 opportunities for a 30 percent success rate.

Tickets Here: Season tickets for the 2010-11 season are now available by calling the Oilers office at 918-632-PUCK (7825).
