
Two Assists for Mateychuk in Canada's Pre-Tournament Win over Switzerland

Moose Jaw Warriors captain Denton Mateychuk picked up a pair of assists for Team Canada in pre-tournament action on Friday.
Mateychuk, Brayden Yager and Canada skated to a 6-3 win over Switzerland in their second pre-tournament game ahead of the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship in Sweden.
Mateychuk assisted on Conor Geekie's power play goal midway through the first period and then helped set up Owen Beck for a goal just 28 seconds into the second period.
Canada was tied with Switzerland at 2-2 after one, but exploded for four goals in the second period to skate to the victory.
Yager was held off the scoresheet, but generated numerous scoring chances for Canada.
The Canadians will finish up their pre-tournament action on Saturday against the United States at 11 a.m. Saskatchewan time.
The 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship opens on Boxing Day with Canada facing off with Finland at 7:30 a.m.
