
Tulsa Takes Down Iowa

Iowa Barnstormers News Release
The Tulsa Oilers (1-3) won, 54-48, over the Iowa Barnstormers (0-4) at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday, April 22.
Iowa Barnstormers offense started off hot to start the first quarter. Barnstormers running back Antonio Wimbush scored quickly. Kicker Gabriel Rui nailed the extra point to make it 7-0. After a Tulsa fumble, Barnstormers QB Jonathan Bane connected with wide receiver Lane Canny, 14-0. Tulsa quarterback Vince Espinoza responded with a seven-yard pass to wide receiver Joshua Crockett, extra point was successful by Jeremy Reynolds, 14-7.
The second quarter started off with a crazy run by Barnstormers wide receiver Caleb Smith, PAT was unsuccessful by Gabriel Rui, 20-7. The Barnstormers defense wanted part of the action; cornerback Eric Johnson returns an interception to make the lead 27-7. Tulsa wasted no time with a pass by Vincent Espinoza that connected to Montero Dubose, PAT was unsuccessful, 27-13. Barnstormers offense flew high after a touchdown pass by Jonathan Bane to wide receiver Caleb Smith, 34-13. Tulsa started to put points on the board with a one-yard touchdown run by Damion May, PAT was unsuccessful, 34-19.
Tulsa started quickly with an opening kickoff return to cut the Barnstormers lead to 34-26. Barnstormers running back Antonio Wimbush charged for a twelve-yard touchdown, growing the lead 41-26. Tulsa did not waste any time, wide receiver Tre King rushed four yards to put it in the endzone, 41-33. Tulsa closed the gap to a one score game when Espinoza connected with wide receiver Alex Rosario, 41-40.
The fourth quarter was back and forth and a rollercoaster. Tulsa took the lead in the fourth quarter with an eighteen-yard pass by Espinoza to tight end Bennett Harvey, 47-41. Barnstormers quarterback Jonathan Bane threw a strike to Antonio Wimbush to retake the lead, 48-47. Tulsa responded with an eleven-yard run by Harvey Bennett, 54-58.
The Iowa Barnstormers will travel next week to play Massachusetts Pirates at DCU Center on April 28 at 6:35 P.M. Fans will be able to tune in live on the IFL's Official YouTube Channel.
