Rattlers Fall Short in Frisco

April 23, 2023 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Arizona Rattlers News Release

The Arizona Rattlers have dropped to 2-3 on the season after a tough road loss to the undefeated Frisco Fighters in Texas on Saturday.

The Rattlers started off slow with a 21-6 deficit early on that the team was never able to shake despite a brief run or two where it looked like they were back in it. Frisco answered every punch the Rattlers threw their way.

Frisco dominated statistically speaking on the offensive side as they had 20 first downs as opposed to Arizona's 14. Despite that, the Rattlers' offense actually held the advantage in total yards with 260 yards compared to 242 from Frisco. The Rattlers trailed by 12 heading into halftime by a score of 39-27. The 39 first-half points allowed were the ultimate difference, as Arizona couldn't muster enough offense to keep up with the Fighters in the second half.

Ultimately, the slow start and giving up 39 first-half points to Frisco was too much for the Rattlers to overcome in playing catchup ball through quarters two through four. Isaiah Huston had himself a game, recording nine receptions to go with 136 yards and four receiving touchdowns.

Arizona made it interesting towards the late stages as they pushed it to a seven-point game (49-42) with five minutes left of action, but Frisco was able to eat the clock and get a field goal dagger to seal the deal with nine seconds remaining in the game.

The Rattlers are now tied for fourth place in the Western Conference with San Diego and Duke City at 2-3.
