San Antonio Missions News Release
In front of a Star Wars Night crowd of 6,584 at Wolff Stadium, San Antonio dropped a 3-0 decision to Tulsa.
For the second night in a row, the Missions had a pitcher make his Double-A debut. Right-hander Emmanuel Ramirez got the ball Saturday looking to even the series for the Missions. The 24-year-old hurler put together a solid outing, allowing just two runs on five hits and two walks over four innings. Ramirez (0-1) fanned six in his debut, throwing 58 of his 86 pitches for strikes.
Tulsa plated its first run in the second when Wes Darvill knocked in D.J. Peters with a single to center. An inning later, Jacob Scavuzzo pushed the lead to two with a solo homer to left. It was the 19th homer of the year for Scavuzzo, who drove in four in Friday night's opener.
Gavin Lux capped scoring in the seventh when he took Trevor Megill's 2-2 pitch over the wall in right.
The rest of the night belonged to the Tulsa pitching staff as Tony Gonsolin and relievers Andrew Istler (3-4) and Yadier Alvarez (1st save) combined on a four-hitter. Alvarez fanned six in his four innings of work.
San Antonio (23-25, 65-53) concludes its three-game set with Tulsa (28-20, 62-56) on Sunday Funday presented by Circle K. Sunday is also another Bark in the Park Night courtesy of Raising Cane's. Lake Bachar (2-6, 5.91) will get the ball for the Missions in Sunday's finale, while the Drillers counter with fellow righty Justin DeFratus (4-4, 3.71). First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 PM.
