
Tulsa Bounces Back, Tops Austin

AUSTIN, Texas, February 1, 2014 - The Tulsa 66ers evened their weekend series with the Austin Toros by picking up a 100-88 win at the Cedar Park Center on Saturday afternoon. Andre Roberson, on assignment from the Oklahoma City Thunder, posted 17 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks and three steals.
Tulsa, who lost to the Toros 104-91 on Friday night, bounced back on Saturday to force 18 Austin turnovers and block 10 shots while four 66ers scored 17 or more points.
Mario Little led Tulsa with 20 points and rebounds as Mustafa Shakur added 17 points, six assists and four steals and Isaiah Wilkerson scored 17 off the bench.
Maurice Sutton, making his first career start, tallied 15 points, 16 rebounds and three blocks. In the past two games, Sutton has combined for 27 points, 32 rebounds and six blocks.
After falling behind by 19 points and being outscored 36-18 in the opening quarter of Friday night's loss, the 66ers started Saturday's matchup strong to take an early lead on Austin, winning the quarter 22-18. The 66ers' lead grew in the second quarter, outscoring Austin 35-21 while shooting 13-for-24 in the frame.
The Toros fought their way back in the third, outscoring Tulsa 27-15 to pull within six heading into the final quarter. The 66ers went on a 19-7 run midway through the fourth to take and 18-point lead and fend off Austin.
The 66ers (10-18) shot 17-for-19 from the foul line and outrebounded the Toros 45-37.
Austin (11-15) was led by Flip Murray with 27 points.
The 66ers are back in action on Tuesday when they host the Iowa Energy on the Oklahoma City Thunder's home floor at Chesapeake Energy Arena. The 11 a.m. matchup marks the first annual Thunder Field Trip Day.
Thousands of students from over 85 schools across Oklahoma will take in the excitement of 66ers basketball and the Thunder game day experience. During the game, Thunder mascot Rumble the Bison, 66ers mascot Routie the Roadrunner, the Thunder Girls dance team and the Storm Chasers will provide the excitement of Thunder game day entertainment, interacting with fans and helping cheer on the 66ers.
