Tulsa Acquires Hamilton, Waives Taylor Due to Injury

TULSA, Okla., January 10 - The Tulsa 66ers have acquired forward Tang Hamilton from the NBA Development League available player pool and waived guard Marcus Taylor due to injury.
Hamilton, 6-8, 220, will be playing for his third D-League team since the 2001-02 season. In 101 career D-League games with Columbus (now Austin) and Fayetteville, he averaged 32.6 minutes, 15.0 points and 7.8 rebounds. A first team All-D-League selection in 2002-03 and an honorable mention choice last season, Hamilton holds the D-league record for double-doubles in a season with 25 in 2002-03. His 212 career offensive rebounds are sixth all-time.
He played in nine games with the Miami HEAT during the 2001-02 season, averaging 2.2 points and 2.0 rebounds. Hamilton was in camp with the HEAT in 2004, the Detroit Pistons in 2003 and Memphis Grizzlies in 2002.
. Hamilton also played for Azovmash Mariupol (Ukraine) and led the team to the 2004 Ukrainian Superleague regular season championship and to the Ukrainian Superleague championship. He was named by Eurobasket.com as the 2004 All-Ukrainian Superleague Import Player of the Year, as well as to the Ukrainian Superleague All-Newcomers Team.
A three-year starter for Mississippi State, Hamilton is one of just three players in school history to score 1,300 or more career points and collect 600 or more rebounds.
Taylor, who began the season with Albuquerque, has played in nine D-League games, averaging 17.2 minutes, 6.7 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists. In three games with Tulsa he averaged 8.0 minutes, 4.0 points, 0.7 rebounds and 0.7 assists.
Hamilton is expected to play when Tulsa (8-10) travels to Arkansas (10-6) on Friday.
The Tulsa 66ers will be in Arkansas Friday, January 13. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m. The next scheduled game will be the D-League's Martin Luther King Showcase in Fayetteville, N.C., on Sunday, January 15, with a 1:00 p.m. tipoff and Monday, January 16, with a 4:00 p.m. tipoff.
