
Tullo Pitches Roadrunners Past Cats

EDINBURG, Texas - Aaron Tullo struck out 12 batters in six innings as he led the Edinburg Roadrunners to a 6-0 victory over the Fort Worth Cats Thursday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium in front of 2,895 in attendance.
Tullo (3-2) allowed just two hits and four walks for his third win of the season helping the Roadrunners (38-22) take three-of-four from the Cats (33-26).
The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the fifth. Tim Battle and Stantrel Smith started the inning with singles. Then with runners at second and third, Vincent Blue hit an RBI fielder's choice that allowed Battle to score. A throwing error allowed Smith and Blue to score and allowed Wilmer Pino to reach second. Derek Perren followed with an RBI single to center scoring Pino from second giving Edinburg the 4-0 lead.
In the bottom of the sixth, Smith gave Edinburg another run as he hit an RBI double to left field that allowed Osiel Flores to score. One out later, Pino hit a single to left that moved Smith to third, but Smith came in to score as Pino tried to take second which extended the Roadrunners lead 6-0.
Tetsuya Iwasaki and Ryan Smith combined for three innings of relief allowing just two hits giving Edinburg the 6-0 victory.
The Roadrunners open a four-game series against the McAllen Thunder Friday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Miguel Martinez (7-3) looks to take the league lead in wins as he starts for Edinburg with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
