Postponed in San Angelo

Abilene Prairie Dogs News Release

SAN ANGELO, TX - Often, the best remedy for a four-game losing streak is an off day. In the midst of a four-game slide, the Dogs had to travel about 90 miles to get the night off as the fourth of their eight-game series with the Colts was postponed due to rain. The game will take place as part of a double header on Sunday beginning at 5:05.

As Colts' starting pitcher Mike Hart took the hill for a 7:05 first pitch, a steady drizzle rolled in at Foster Field. Hart got Jason Martin to fly out to right field on the third pitch of the game, but as the righty entered his windup and fired the first pitch to Wilson Batista, the rain intensified. Batista popped out to Ryan Hutson at third base, and before Joe Weik got to the plate with two outs the rain chased the players off the field and the game entered a delay.

It is the third time a Prairie Dogs' game has been postponed in 2012. The game will resume from its point of delay on Sunday night at 5:05 and will be completed in full. The second game of the double header will be a scheduled seven inning contest.

The Dogs and Colts will be in action tomorrow night at Walt Driggers' Field. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a complimentary can koozie courtesy of Halftime Sports and KXVA FOX Abilene. If you cannot make it to Walt Driggers' Field, hear the game on 106.9 KLGD or on the internet at abileneprairiedogs.com beginning with the First Financial Pregame Show at 6:55.
