
Tucson Sugar Skulls Add Three Players

TUCSON, ARIZONA - The Tucson Sugar Skulls have signed three more players to their first roster, including a quarterback and a local product who played high school and junior college football in Tucson.
The roster is now up to seven players of 25 that will make up the team when it begins play in March. The Sugar Skulls first preseason camp will open in late January. An open tryout is scheduled for Nov. 10 at the Kino Sports Complex.
The signees are:
Cam Gaddis, wide receiver/defensive back, 6-1, 193 pounds. Played at Santa Rita High School through 2010 and at Pima Community College in 2011 and 2012. Caught 25 passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns in 2012. Gaddis has played three years of indoor football with the Duke City Gladiators, Billings Wolves and Omaha Beef.
Alex Wheat Jr., wide receiver, 6-4, 225 pounds. Finished his college career at Coastal Carolina in 2015 where he had 17 catches for 170 yards. Played two years at Utah State University and earned a bachelor's degree before taking a graduate transfer to Coastal Carolina. Originally from Alpharetta, Georgia, he played wide receiver at Palomar College, a junior college in Southern California where he earned second-team All-Southern Conference honors with 47 receptions for 854 yards and 11 touchdowns. Played one year with the Spokane Empire of the Indoor Football League in 2016. Is the nephew of Ted Ginn Jr. of the New Orleans Saints.
Tasleem "Taz" Wilson, quarterback, 6-4, 230 pounds. Was a 2014 signee of the University of Alabama-Birmingham out of Chattahoochee High School in Johns Creek, Georgia. He eventually landed in junior college, including one year at Mesa Community College in Arizona. He finished his college career in 2017 at Limestone College, an NCAA Division II school in Gaffney, South Carolina. Currently is the team captain for the Georgia Cardinals of the 7-team Development Football International league which has teams in California and on the East Coast.
The Tucson Sugar Skulls are in their first year of operation as an expansion franchise of the Indoor Football League. The team will begin its inaugural season in March with home games at the Tucson Arena.
