Ottawa Lynx News and Notes:

MAY IN REVIEW: The Lynx ended the month of May by winning five of their last seven games and completed the month with a 15-16 record. 3B Fernando Tatis led the Lynx with a .320 batting average in May, while 1B Andy Tracy had team leading totals of six homeruns and 17 RBI. On the mound, LHP Eric DuBose had a team-leading three wins, while RHP Eddy Rodriguez had a team-best seven saves while posting a 0.59 ERA.

HOMER HAPPY LYNX: The Lynx have been knocking the ball out of the park at a record pace of late. After hitting 20 homers in their first 37 games, the Lynx have hit 25 homers in their last 16 games. Ottawa has hit 34 homers in May, six more than any other team in the IL (Columbus is 2nd - 28) and an incredible 23 more than Pawtucket, who has hit a league low 11 this month. On route to the Lynx 34 homers this month, several different players have hit at least three homers - Andy Tracy (6), Eli Whiteside (4), Alejandro Freire (3), Brandon Marsters (3), Keith Reed (3), Fernando Tatis (3) and Luis Terrero (3).

AIN'T LIFE GRAND (Slam): During the Lynx road trip, they had a stretch from May 24th-27th when they hit three grand slams in four games, an unprecedented slam streak for the franchise. Brandon Marsters' grand slam on the 27th was only the 27th in the 14-year history of the Lynx franchise. Marsters' shot follow up Keith Reed's on 26th and Eddy Garabito's blast on the 24th. This marks the first time since 1998 the Lynx have hit three grand slams in a season, with the most ever (4) coming in the inaugural season of 1993. Ottawa had hit grand slams on back to back days only once before, when Derrick May and Trace Coquillette accomplished the feat against these same Durham Bulls in Ottawa on June 20th and 21st of 1998. The Lynx have won nine straight games in which they've hit a grand slam. Prior to Garabito's shot on the 24th, Ottawa last GS came on July 1st, 2005 courtesy of Alejandro Freire.

OF NOTE ON THE TOLEDO ROSTER: The Toledo Mud Hens have two Canadians on their roster. RHP Steve Green and CA Maxim St. Pierre will both compete for Toledo this weekend. The Mud Hens will come to Ottawa with one top prospect on their roster, as RHP Jordan Tata (rated the Detroit Tigers # 7 prospect per Baseball America prior to 2006) will pitch for Toledo on Sunday.
