Iowa Barnstormers Signee Wide Receiver Charles Torwudzo, Jr.

DES MOINES - Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Joe Brannen announced today that the Iowa Barnstormers have signed wide receiver Charles Torwudzo Jr. to a contract.
On Saturday, November 14th in Pella, IA, the Iowa Barnstormers held their annual Free Agent Tryout. Over 50 athletes from across the country competed for a chance at making the 2016 Barnstormers roster. One of those hopefuls was Charles Torwudzo Jr. who impressed the coaching staff and earned an invitation to training camp in February.
Torwudzo (6-5, 217, Purdue University) joins the Iowa Barnstormers for his rookie season in the Indoor Football League (IFL). Torwudzo spent three years playing for Purdue University and was a three-star prospect coming out of high school. In 2013, Torwudzo made the move from wide receiver to tight end. While with the Boilermakers, Torwudzo proved to be a leader with his positive outlook.
Torwudzo continued to showcase his leadership skills outside of football. In 2014, Torwudzo founded the Boiler-Maker-Wish Foundation in hopes of inspiring children with moderate to severe physical disabilities or life-threatening illnesses.
"Finding a player like Charles is the very reason we love these open tryouts so much," said Coach Brannen. "It gives us an opportunity to find an athlete who wasn't originally on our radar. Charles is a big, strong wide receiver that moved extremely well during our drill period and our skills testing at the workout. I am excited to see him come in to camp and compete."
