Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Johnstown, PA- Johnstown Chiefs rookie forward Peter Trovato will be honored by the NBA's Boston Celtics Wednesday night as a "Hero Among Us," for his work in establishing the Massachusetts Soldiers Legacy Fund. The presentation will be made prior to the Celtics versus Dallas Mavericks game at the Fleetcenter.

The fund is a charitable endowment to help defray the college education costs for sons and daughters of soldiers that have lost their lives in the war on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan. Since the fund was officially established on December 1st, Trovato has raised $50,000. Over thirty Massachusetts soldiers have been killed in action since the war began, leaving behind more than 20 children.

"I would like to raise one to two million dollars," Trovato said. "These soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. My vision is to develop the biggest statewide fund for fallen soldiers in the country."

Trovato is one of five finalists for college's Hockey Humanitarian Award. The award will presented on April 8th at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, site of the 2005 NCAA Frozen Four.

Trovato joined the Chiefs on March 17th after spending the last four seasons at the University of Massachusetts. He has four assists in eight games with the Chiefs.
