Tribe Dealt Second Straight Shutout
April 11, 2015 - International League (IL1)
Indianapolis Indians News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - Opposing starter Danny Salazar struck out seven over six scoreless innings, James Ramsey went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs and the Columbus Clippers defeated the Indianapolis Indians 3-0 on Friday night at Victory Field.
Four Clippers (2-0) pitchers combined to deal the Indians (0-2) their first back-to-back shutouts since May 17-18, 2012 (at Lehigh Valley).
Starter Adrian Sampson was nicked early and tagged with the loss following a two-run homer to Ramsey in the first frame and an RBI double to Jesus Aguilar in the third inning. Sampson regrouped to cap his start with two scoreless frames before he gave way to a shutout effort from the Indians bullpen.
Working in relief, Deoilis Guerra, Collin Balester and John Holdzkom allowed just one hit and four total baserunners through their four innings of work.
Hunter Morris and Elias Diaz each chipped in a hit for the Indians sputtering offense and have accounted for six of the team's 11 base knocks through the first two games of the season.
Columbus closer Shawn Armstrong picked up the save when he halted a potential ninth-inning rally with a double play and strikeout.
