American Defenders of New Hampshire News Release

(Nashua, N.H., August 24, 2008) Quebec Capitales starting pitcher Orlando Trias threw a no-hitter against the Nashua Pride to lead Quebec to a 3-0 victory at Historic Holman Stadium on Sunday.

Trias is only the second pitcher in Can-Am League history to throw a no-hitter, matching Aaron Myers' feat in 2006 with the New Jersey Jackals.

"He threw strikes and kept us off-balanced," said Pride Manager Rick Miller following the game. "It was one of those games where you just have to tip your cap to (Trias), he did a good job."

Trias (8-6) earned his eighth victory of the year with the complete game gem, tossing nine shut-out innings while allowing just four walks and notching four strike outs against the Pride.

The Capitales received multiple hit games from second baseman Jean-Michel Rochon-Salvas (3-for-4, 2 RBI) and first baseman Eddie Lantigua (3-for-4, 3 R). Left fielder Alex Nunez (0-for-3) had the other Quebec RBI on a fielder choice.

Pride starter Jason Paul suffered the loss, going seven and two-thirds innings, giving up two runs, on seven hits, one walk and seven strike outs. Reliever Mike Joyce was the lone man out of the Pride bullpen and pitched one and one-third innings, giving up one run, on two hits and two strike outs.

The Pride will open up a five game series with the Atlantic City Surf with a double header on Monday, at 5:05pm, when Nashua sends Hideki Nagasaka (8-5) to the mound for the start in game one. Rookie John Tesseyman (0-0) is schedule to make his first professional start in game two.

The Nashua Pride Professional Baseball Club, in its 11th season, provides a fun, affordable, community-based and fan-friendly source of sports entertainment. The 2007 Can-Am League Champions are participating in its third year of play in the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball.
