Tri-City Americans News Release

The Americans took on the Victoria Royals for the first time this season tonight at the Toyota Center. After a close and hard fought game, the Americans emerged victorious with a 4-3 overtime win.

Victoria's River Fahey opened scoring with the first period's only goal, scored on the power play. The Americans went on to net two goals early in the second period and take a 2-1 lead.

Second year defenseman Tom Cadieux netted his first ever WHL goal with a shot off the faceoff, assisted by Sam Huo. A minute later Captain Kyle Olson scored his first goal of the season to give the Ams their first lead of the evening.

Olson was called for boarding at 12:49. Victoria's Sean Gulka responded with a cross check putting the teams at even four-on-four for two minutes. Tarun Fizer scored for the Royals tying the game. The score held at two into the third period.

Each team added a third goal in the final frame, Smith for Victoria and Huo for the Americans, extending the game into overtime.

Olson took a penalty for boarding 1:56 into the extra period. Quickly after getting out of the penalty box the Americans' captain was able finish the game with a goal from the slot, assisted by Krystof Hrabik.

For the first time in a combined 273 career WHL games, twin brothers Beck and Will Warm matched up against each other tonight at the Toyota Center. Beck Warm, Tri-City's 20-year-old netminder, stopped 27 shots faced from his brother's team in tonight's victory.

Score: 4-3 Americans (OT)

Shots: 30-30
