Spokane Chiefs News Release

Spokane, Wash. - Despite outshooting the Prince George Cougars 45-24, including an 18-2 margin in the third, the Spokane Chiefs dropped a 3-1 decision at home on Friday night. Prince George's Taylor Gauthier was named the game's first star after recording 44 saves in net.

The Cougars struck first as veteran forward Josh Maser found some open space between the circles to rip home his third goal of the season with 2:10 left in the opening period. The marker put Prince George up 1-0 headed into the first intermission.

Spokane tied it up at 1:28 of the second as defenseman Bobby Russell joined the rush and snapped his first of the season in from the left side. Eli Zummack and Filip Kral earned helpers.

Prince George struck right back, scoring just 2:02 later as pivot Connor Bowie capitalized on a 3-on-1 opportunity to retake the lead at 2-1. They added on later in the period when Mitchell Kohner tracked down a loose puck on the right wing and slapped it past Chiefs netminder Campbell Arnold for an unassisted score.

Spokane finished 0-for-3 on the power play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.
