Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
The Tri-City Dust Devils are beginning to look like a playoff team again as they completed their sweep of the Yakima Bear Tuesday night. The Dust Devils combined for nine hits as they beat the Bears 6-3 in the final game of a three game homestand. The Tri-City pitching staff had a great night which started by Daniel Perkins who picked up the win.
The Tri-City Dust Devils took off early in the game, continuing their offensive spurt from the last two games. Bo Bowman started things off for Tri-City who doubled to start the inning. Kent Matthes singled to put runners on first and third. Joseph Sanders drilled a ball off the left field wall to score both runners and get Sanders to third base on a double. Leo Reyes scored Sanders on a ground out to give the Dust Devils a 3-0 lead. Tyson Van Winkle opened things up for the Bears by driving in Ryan Wheeler in the fifth inning making the game 3-1.
Bowman came through again for the Dust Devils in the fifth inning. Orlando Sandoval reached first on an error and stole second base to get in scoring position. With two outs Kevin Clark was walked to set Bowman up. Bowman drilled a triple to right field and drove in both runners for his fifth RBI of the series giving the Dust Devils a 5-1 lead.
The Bears were able to get another run across in the sixth inning to cut into the Tri-City lead. Brent Greer led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on a single by Ryan Wheeler. Greer moved to third on a pop fly by Matt Davidson. Greer completed his tour of the bases on a wild pitch making the game 5-2.
Jeremiah Sammy started the bottom of the seventh inning off with a triple to the right field wall to set the Dust Devils up for another scoring opportunity. Bowman delivered again for his sixth RBI in the series, moving the Dust Devil lead to 6-2.
Bowman finished 3-4 with a single, double and triple and three RBI. Sanders went 2- with two doubles and two RBI.
