Yakima Bears News Release

PASCO, Wash. - Ryan Wheeler spanked two doubles and collected three hits but the Tri-City Dust Devils (38-26) were able to stave off the attack to topple the Yakima Bears (23-41) 6-2 and complete the three-game sweep at Gesa Stadium Tuesday night.

The Devils scored three runs off Bears' starter Chris Odegaard in the bottom of the second inning and never trailed, cruising to their most comfortable win of the series, after taking the first two by a single run.

Yakima scored its first run in the top of the fourth on a Tyson Van Winkle RBI groundout.

Wheeler finished the night 3-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored. Dan Kaczrowski notched a multi-hit ball game, going 2-for-3 with a double and a stolen base.

Dan Perkins (3-2) worked six innings out of the gate, allowing two runs on seven hits to earn the victory. Odegaard (1-7) lasted five frames, giving up five runs - three earned - on five hits while striking out four and walking three.

Wednesday night the two teams open a three-game series at County Stadium, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05. Dan Taylor (4-1, 3.78 ERA) gets the nod for Yakima against Rob Scahill (0-4, 3.49 ERA) for Tri-City.
