Tri-City loses to Lancers for fourth-straight time this season in extra-time

OMAHA, Neb. - The Tri-City Storm left Omaha on Friday night still seeking their first-ever win at the Omaha Civic Auditorium against the Lancers. The Storm were able to force overtime after allowing the game's first goal, but fell in the shootout 2-1.

After a scoreless 40 minutes of action, Omaha (19-10-4, 42 pts) got a goal from Anthony Hamburg on the power play at the 5:26 mark into the third period. Hamburg, who scored his fourth of the season, got the puck on a faceoff win by Matt Tabrum to begin the man-advantage and scored four seconds into the power play on a shot from the high-slot.

The Storm (14-12-7, 35 pts) scored about three minutes later, as defenseman Zack Rall scored his third of the season on a slap shot from the left-point. Nick Lappin and Brian Ward were credited with the assists on the Storm's lone goal of the game. Lappin now has five points (3 goals, 2 assists) in the last six games.

Neither team would get more than one shot-on-goal in overtime and remained tied heading to the shootout for the second time in the season series.

In the shootout, Lancers' defenseman Michael Chiasson scored the lone goal, which proved to be the game-winning goal. The Storm went 0-for-5 in the shootout and fell to 2-4 in shootouts this season.

Tri-City goalie Christopher Holden made 31 saves in the shootout loss, while Todd Mathews made 26 saves in the win for Omaha. It was the first time this season that Holden got to play against his former team after beginning the season in Omaha.

The Storm are 0-0-4 this season against Omaha and will play the Lancers four more times this season, including two games in Omaha.

The Storm are home on Saturday night against the Chicago Steel and play six of their next eight games on the road.
