Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
The Tri-City Dust Devils (1-0) were able to hang on to a late lead on Friday night to come away with the 5-4 win over the Everett AquaSox (0-1) to begin the 2016 season. Both Nate Easley and Kyle Overstreet had two hits to lead the Dust Devils at the plate. Tri-City fell behind early to the AquaSox as Everett jumped out to a 2-0 lead after scoring a pair of runs off of Dust Devils starter Emmanuel Ramirez. Things would change in the third inning when control issues plagued Everett's starting pitcher Jake Brentz. The southpaw for the AquaSox surrendered three walks with the bases loaded that led to the Dust Devils scoring three runs, giving the team a lead that they would keep for the rest of the game. The Dust Devils received contributions throughout the team's lineup. Each player reached safely for Tri-City and six came away with hits. Diomar Lopez (1-0) picked up the victory in relief for the Dust Devils and Aaron Cressley slammed the door shut on the AquaSox, retiring the final seven Everett batters of the game in order to earn the save. The homestand continues for the Dust Devils on Saturday night. Right-hander Angel Mejia will start for Tri-City in the second game of the three-game series with Everett. The AquaSox will send left-handed pitcher Luiz Gohara to the mound. There will be a postgame fireworks show on Saturday presented by Back to Basics. Saturday's game is sold out, for ticket information for remaining games call the Dust Devils' office at (509) 544-8789 or visit www.dustdevilsbaseball.com.
