(Vancouver, B.C.) - After a thrilling victory to open up the Northwest League season on Friday night, Vancouver ran into a tough quintet of Spokane arms as the hometown Indians responded with a 5-0 victory over the Canadians on Saturday.

Spokane starter RHP Tyler Phillips (1-0) went five scoreless innings, striking out four while limiting the Canadians to just a pair of hits in the victory. The Indians bullpen obliged by delivering the remaining four frustrating innings for the Vancouver offense as LHP C.D. Pelham (1.0IP); RHP Alex Daniele (1.0IP), RHP Christian Torres (1.0IP) and RHP Caleb Fontenot (1.0IP) kept the Canadians at bay to secure Spokane's first victory of the summer.

RF D.J. McKnight (1-for-3), 1B Christian Williams (1-for-3) and DH Gabe Clark (1-for-4) were the only Canadians to collect hits in the lopsided affair.

Vancouver RHP Dalton Rodriguez (0-1) suffered the loss allowing seven hits over his four innings of work. LHP Matt Smoral went 1.2IP on Saturday allowing a pair of walks and a hit, with the Indians managing a run off the former 1st Round selection.

With the loss, Vancouver falls to 1-1 (.500) on the young Northwest League season while the Indians improve to 1-1 (.500). These two teams play the rubber match of this three-game series out at Avista Stadium on Sunday, June 19th at 3:30pm as Canadians manager John Tamargo Jr. sends LHP Juliandry Higuera (0-0, 0.00) to the mound in hopes of the series victory.
