The Tri-City Americans defeated the Kelowna Rockets 5-1 Saturday night at Prospera Place, sending the Rockets out on an eastern road swing on a losing note.
The Americans scored twice in each of the first two periods and cruised to victory in front of 6,121 fans at Prospera Place.
Tyler Matheson was the only Rockets player to score as he netted his first of the season on a late Kelowna power play.
Kelowna drops to 15-15-1-0 as it gets set for a six game road trip that begins Tuesday in Swift Current. The Rockets will play six games over nine days on the road trip.
