Tri-City Begins Weekend with 3-2 Road Win over Omaha

Ralston, NE - The Tri-City Storm defeated the Omaha Lancers by a final score of 3-2 Friday night at Ralston Arena. Davis Burnside scored his first career USHL goal, and Nick Capone netted his first goal of the season in the Storm's road win. Felix Carenfelt scored his 4th goal of the season, and Daniel Allin made 24 saves on 26 shots to record the victory in net. The Storm have won back to back games for the first time this season and will battle Omaha again tomorrow at Ralston Arena. Tomorrow night's game will be the Storm's final game of the weekend. Puck drop is set for 7:05pm.

Both teams battled to a scoreless draw after the 1st period Friday, with Tri-City outshooting Omaha 11-4. Alex Campbell broke the scoreless tie thirty-five seconds into the 2nd period, giving the Lancers a 1-0 lead on home ice. Minutes later, Tri-City's Davis Burnside score his first career USHL goal to tie the game. Burnside's goal was assisted by Nicholas Donato and Felix Carenfelt. With less than four minutes to play in the period, Tri-City took the lead on a goal scored by Nick Capone. The goal was scored at 16:54 of the 2nd period and was assisted by Nick Portz and Joe Molenaar. The goal was also Capone's first of the season and was scored on the power play. Tri-City was outshot 15-10 in the 2nd period but carried a 2-1 lead into the 3rd period.

Felix Carenfelt gave the Storm another power play goal less than five minutes into the 3rd period to increase the lead to two goals. Carenfelt's goal was his 4th of the year and was assisted by Andrius Kulbis-Marino, and Matthew Knies. At the 7:16 mark of the period, Omaha cut the Tri-City lead in half with a goal from Jackson Decker. The goal from Decker was the final scoring play of the night, and the Storm left Ralston Arena with a 3-2 road win over its in-state rivals. Daniel Allin stopped 24 of Omaha's 26 shots in net for Tri-City.

Nick Capone was named the Game 1st, with teammates Davis Burnside and Felix Carenfelt picking up 2nd and 1st Star honors. Tri-City improved to 3-5-1-1 on the year and jumped from 7th place to 4th place in the Western Conference standings. Tonight's game was the first game of four consecutive road games for the Storm. Tri-City returns to action tomorrow night in another matchup against in state rival Omaha.
