Potomac Nationals News Release

WOODBRIDGE, Va.- The Potomac Nationals announced today that infielder Trevor Lawhorn has been called up from Low-A Hagerstown and placed on Potomac's 25-man roster, replacing Frank Diaz who advanced to Triple-A Columbus. Pitcher Joe Norrito will return to the team today, after making a spot start with Double-A Harrisburg yesterday.

Lawhorn appeared in 28 games with Hagerstown this season hitting .244 with two home runs and nine RBI. The North Carolina-native played primarily second and third base, but was also frequently used as a designated hitter.

Signed as minor league free agent by the Washington Nationals in 2007, Lawhorn receives his first call-up to Advanced-A since 2006. The 25-year-old spent parts of the 2007 season with the Sioux Falls Canaries of the American Association, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers of the Midwest League, and Hagerstown. In 26 games with the Suns, he hit .267 with two home runs and 18 RBI.

Lawhorn is playing in his sixth season of professional baseball after the Cincinnati Reds originally drafted him in the ninth round of the 2004 First-Year Player Draft. The right-hander owns a .251 average in 361 career games with 30 home runs and 169 RBI.

Despite tossing five innings and allowing only three earned runs, Norrito suffered the loss against the Akron Aeros. The right-hander has pitched well since joining Potomac this season posting a 2-0 record with a 1.69 ERA in five games.

With the additions of Lawhorn and Norrito, Potomac's active roster now stands at 25, with 13 pitchers and 12 position players.
