
Trenton Slugs Three Homers as 'Cats Snap Six-Game Streak

NEW BRITAIN, CT - New Britain fell behind early even with ace B.J. Hermsen on the mound and never recovered as Trenton rolled to a 9-4 victory on Wednesday night at New Britain Stadium. The loss snapped a Rock Cats' six-game win streak.
Trenton pounded out 12 hits - led by three-hit performances by Jose Pirela and Luke Murton. The Thunder slugged three home runs on the night, including two by David Adams who finished with a game-high four RBI.
Adams provided the Thunder with an early lead when he crushed a two-run shot off Hermsen over the left center field wall in the first inning.
Hermsen (4-4) labored through two innings, being struck for a total of six runs on six hits in just two innings. The Thunder struck for four more runs in the second against Hermsen including an RBI single by Pirela and a two-run single by Zoilo Almonte.
In the third, Murton greeted Rock Cats reliever Daniel Sattler with a solo blast to left field for the 7-0 lead.
The Rock Cats got on the board in the bottom of the third when Nate Hanson led off with a double and came around to score on Aaron Hicks' base hit into center. In the fourth, Matt Rizzotti knocked in Oswaldo Arcia to make it a five-run game.
Chris Colabello led off the bottom of the sixth with a homer to left field to close the gap, 7-3.
Adams added a two-run shot in the ninth off reliever Edgar Ibarra.
Trenton's Brett Marshall (8-3) scattered seven hits over six innings, allowing three runs and striking out three.
RECENT ROCK CATS MOVES: In the past seven days, the `Cats have made eight roster moves, most recently receiving former Major League RHP Sharion Martis after he was traded to Minnesota from Pittsburgh. In other moves: LHP Andrew Albers and OF Rene Tosoni were placed on the D.L.; RHP Luis Perdomo, RHP Bobby Lanigan and LHP Caleb Theilbar were promoted to AAA Rochester; and LHP Edgar Ibarra and RHP Dakota Watts were assigned to New Britain from A Ft. Myers.
ALLSTATE PLAYER OF THE GAME : 1B Chris Colabello went 2-for-5 with a home run - his team-leading 13th of the season - for the Rock Cats.
