Trenton Drops Second Straight To New Hampshire

Trenton, NJ- Shawn Bowman smacked a three-run homerun to seal a 6-1 New Hampshire win over Trenton on Saturday night from Waterfront Park. Thunder RHP Andrew Brackman was hit with a five-run sixth inning and the Thunder offense was held to just three hits in the loss. The defeat cuts the Thunder (64-43) lead to just ½ game over New Hampshire (64-44) in the Eastern Division.

After each team scored a run in the fourth inning, New Hampshire pulled away in the top of the sixth inning with five runs off RHP Andrew Brackman. Shawn Bowman drilled a three-run homerun over the left field wall in the frame, his second homerun of the series. Brackman was replaced by RHP Kevin Whelan with one out and two runners on.

Brackman (2-6) allowed six runs on seven hits and walked two while striking out four batters in 5 1/3 innings of work. Whelan stranded both inherited runners and tossed 1 2/3 innings scoreless with three strikeouts.

After a 14 hit output on Friday night, the Trenton offense was held to just three hits and one run. Dan Brewer scored the lone run in the fourth inning on an RBI single from Matt Cusick.

RHP B.J. LaMura (5-3) tossed six innings with seven strikeouts in the win for New Hampshire. Danny Farquhar tossed the final three innings for his sixteenth save of the year.
