OTTAWA - A late overtime goal from Nikita Okhotyuk gave him his first OHL goal, and the Ottawa 67's a thrilling extra time victory over the Flint Firebirds to cap off a wild weekend at The Arena at TD Place.

Olivier Tremblay stood on his head all night long in the 67's goal, stymying the Firebirds offence all game. He made 40 saves to get the win.

Unlike Friday night's contest, the 67's struck first early in the opening frame.

An early power play led to Ottawa setting up a chance near the side of the net. Tye Felhaber settled down a bouncing puck and moved it cross-crease to the waiting Graeme Clarke. The rookie buried his third goal of the season making the score 1-0 Ottawa.

The 67's continued to apply pressure, and Sam Bitten extended the Barber Poles lead at 8:08 of the first, taking the puck up the wing all by himself, and playing his own rebound past Garrett Forrest in the Flint net.

The second period featured little scoring, but Flint was able to get on the board after carrying a good deal of the play in the middle stanza. At 7:39, Maurizio Colella found a puck stuck between the post and skate of Olivier Tremblay. He used persistence to jam home the first goal of the night for the Firebirds, cutting Ottawa's lead to one.

Ottawa added a third goal early in the third, with Felhaber nabbing a long breakaway pass from Noel Hoefenmayer and burying it for a 3-1 lead.

But Flint wouldn't go away, adding two goals in the second half of the third to complete a late comeback and send the 67's to extra time for the second time in as many games.

Just like Friday, Ottawa would come out with the victory.

Late in overtime, Sasha Chmelevski took hold of the puck on the right side of the attacking zone and walked in front of the net. He lost his handle of the puck after a toe drag, but Okhotyuk was right there to put it home.

That gave Ottawa yet another overtime victory in the confines of The Arena at TD Place.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING:

On winning at home... "It's huge to build a winning record at home because the opponent notices that when they come in your building. They'll say, 'oh, that team is really tough to beat at home - they play at .800 or .900 (winning percentage).' If you look at the best teams in any league, they're dominant at home. So we want to build that. We want to build the pride - it's a special year for everyone."

On Okhotyuk's first goal... "That's great. He was physical tonight and his dad is in town right now. So it's a really good scenario for him."

On the second period... "One big thing for us is our game management - the length of our shifts and the puck management. We had a little bit of a tough time with it. That generated penalties because we extended our shifts. The position of the bench in the second period is a problem for us. We have to put the puck deep and get our changes, and when we don't we lose the momentum."

GAME NOTES:

The 67's are now 3-0 when playing games in The Arena at TD Place - last season it took Ottawa six games to win at home, when they did it on October 25, 2016 versus Hamilton Ottawa broke through on the power play today after not scoring a goal on the man advantage versus Peterborough - their first goal of the game came as a power play marker from Graeme Clarke After being outshot in regulation, the 67's took it to Flint in the extra frame with a 6-2 advantage in the shot count Starting goaltender Olivier Tremblay made 40 saves in the 67's victory The 67's were 4-for-4 on the penalty kill, staying perfect for the weekend and are an impressive 40/45 on the season (fourth best in the OHL)
