IceDogs capture 2 points in huge come from behind shootout win!

October 9, 2017 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Niagara IceDogs News Release

The IceDogs were in Hamilton tonight to cap off our last game before the holiday weekend. It's always a big game when the 'Dogs face the QEW rivals, but the 610 CKTB and TSN 1150 K-9 Cup Challenge has made the Battle of the Dogs an even more exciting rivalry.

The Bulldogs got off to a 2-0 lead tonight, and the 'Dogs had difficulty getting a puck past the Bulldogs' goalie. Ben Jones finally broke the goose eggs mid-second period on the powerplay! Jonesy tipped in a shot from the blueline from defenseman Elijah Roberts. Akil Thomas picked up the other assist on Jones' goal. Drew Hunter made the most of a big shift toward the end of the second period by tying the game up at 2! Despite having been hit from behind, and drawing a penalty, Hunter hopped up in the rush and tucked the puck in behind the Hamilton netminder to bring us even going into the 3rd period. The 3rd period solved nothing as the IceDogs headed to overtime for the second consecutive night. An intense overtime period featured many great saves by Stephen Dhillon, but neither team could capitalize. The game was solved in a shootout, where Akil Thomas' marker was the lone goal. Your IceDogs captains 4/4 points on the road in Oshawa and Hamilton

Tickets are still available for our next home game, Thursday, October 19th, 2017, against the Mississauga Steelheads, and can be purchased online HERE, or in person at the following locations.
