
Trax steamroll into third place

[Macon, Ga.] âThe Macon Trax defeated the second place Jacksonville Barracudas 4-3 last night at the Macon Centreplex with their fourth win in a row. The Trax are two points behind Jacksonville and inch closer to the highly coveted second position in the SPHL standings.
The Trax received a huge performance from goaltender Terry Denike, who played earlier in the season with the Barracudas. He had 37 saves for the game and continually kept the Trax ahead making some key saves throughout the contest on the Barracudas' players.
Key performances also came from the line of Mark Allen, David Deeves and Edan Welch. This line produced 3 goals and 6 assists on the night. Allen paced the team with 2 goals and an assist, Welch had a goal and 2 assists, while Deeves set up the three goals scored by his fellow linemates. Defenseman Art Mnatsakanov scored the game winner on the power play at 15:35 of the second period.
The Barracudas had goals from Colin Kendall, Andris Vegners and Greg LeColst. Randy Hevey was in net for Jacksonville and he made saves on 27 of 31 shots for the night.
The Trax have two crucial games this week. The team will be playing both games on the road as the GHSA State Basketball Championships continue at the Macon Centreplex. On Friday, March 4 at 7:05 PM, the Trax will be in Jacksonville to complete the back end of the home and home series. The Trax will conclude the weekend in Fayetteville, NC for a game versus the FireAntz on Sunday, March 6 at 4:00 PM. The FireAntz are currently tied with the Trax for third place.
The Trax will return to the Macon Centreplex on Tuesday, March 8 at 7:05 PM vs. Todd MacIsaac and the first place Knoxville Ice Bears. This game will be a "Thirsty Tuesday" as 2 for 1 drink specials will be offered and it marks the last "Double Cola Double Tuesday" of the Season. All fans can bring a Double Cola, Ski, or Jumbo soft drink to the Trax office to receive 2-for-1 ticket specials.
On Friday, March 11, The Macon Trax and Transwestern Publishing have teamed up to provide fans with "Team Poster Night". The first 3000 fans will receive a beautiful limited edition team poster compliments of Transwestern Publishing. Players will be available post-game to autograph the posters. The Huntsville Havoc will be the Trax opponent as the puck drops at 7:05 PM. This will also be High School Senior Night as the Trax say Congratulations to the Class of 2005.
