Travs Unveil 2008 Promotional Schedule

The Arkansas Travelers have unveiled the promotional schedule for the 2008 season at Dickey-Stephens Park! The second season at the franchise's award-winning ballpark features 23 Friday or Saturday games and seven daytime games. With Opening Day at Dickey-Stephens Park set for April 3, the Travs will host 70 games against their Texas League foes through September 1. There are 27 giveaway nights on the docket including Travs fleece blankets, beach towels, bats, replica jerseys, baseballs, caps, helmets, bags, magnets, stadium replicas and Bill Valentine masks! Three post-game fireworks shows are scheduled and the Travs will open Dickey-Stephens Park for the downtown fireworks shows on May 25 and July 4. Also, the Travs and the new Northwest Arkansas Naturals will square off 16 times in North Little Rock as part of the Car-Mart Arkansas Diamond Series and Midget Wrestling returns for the first time since 2006.
One of the highlights of the upcoming series is George Kell Night at Dickey-Stephens Park. On Saturday, June 28 the Travs' will honor the Hall of Fame third baseman from Newport, Arkansas with a George Kell bobblehead! To make things even more exciting, Kell will be joined by two other Hall of Fame legends to sign autographs for one hour; Little Rock's own Brooks Robinson and "Mr. Tiger" Al Kaline!
Last season fans found that Dickey-Stephens Park was a wonderful spot for fireworks in the downtown riverfront, and this season three post-game fireworks shows are scheduled for May 30, July 1 and August 30. Plus Dickey-Stephens Park will be open for the big fireworks shows on May 25 and July 4. For the eighth year, the Jim Elder Good Sport Fund presents three on-field kids clinics on April 20, June 1 and August 3. Longtime favorite L'il Kato is back for a Midget Wrestling bout before the Travs game on May 16. The legendary Clunker Car Night returns when the Travs' giveaway a used car every inning to lucky fans on Thursday, August 14.
Fans hardly ever leave Dickey-Stephens Park empty-handed and this year the Travs have added a collection of brand-new giveaway items. On April 18 when the Travs play against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, fans will receive a free "Car-Mart Arkansas Diamond Series" T-Shirt commemorating the Travs' first-ever in-state opponent. On April 19th the Travs will celebrate their century-old history with a special giveaway; a "100 Years of Travs Baseball" Book written by Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame columnist Jim Bailey to 1,500 adults. A Bill Valentine Mask goes to 2000 fans on Friday, June 13 and a Dickey-Stephens Park replica is the promotional giveaway on August 1.
Men will have a chance to win a Big, Flat Screen TV with the Remote Control On Field Dig on Thursday, May 29. Women will get their chance to dig for a real diamond during the Travs Diamond Dig after the game on Thursday, July 31.
