Trashers overcome three-goal deficit to top Roanoke, 5-4

ROANOKE, VA-For the second time in less than a week, the Danbury Trashers overcame a 3rd period deficit to defeat Roanoke. In the first ever road contest for Danbury at the Roanoke Civic Center, the Trashers defeated the Vipers 5-4 before a crowd of 563 on Wednesday night.

Danbury fell behind 3-0 after the first period as David Beauregard and L.P. Martin each scored for the Vipers, as starting goaltender Jayme Platt stopped only eight of 10 shots faced in the period.

The Vipers scored quickly to start the second period as Gray Shaneberger's first of the year was created off a turnover just 29 seconds into the period. Danbury would finally score on the first of two David Hymovitz goals at the 8:24 mark of the period. Roanoke would regain a three-goal advantage as Martin netted his second of the night at the 17:03 mark. Hymovitz then closed the period with his second of the night at the 18:53 mark.

Danbury switched goaltenders in the third period and went to Sly Daigle, who stopped all eight Roanoke shots to earn the win. The Trashers then wore down Roanoke with a trio of goals from J.M. Daoust, Drew Omicioli and the game-winner by Mike Omicioli at the 14:47 mark of the period.

The Trashers picked up their third straight win as they improve to 11-7-2, while Roanoke falls to 7-9-3 with the loss. Danbury will play Adirondack on Friday and Saturday at 7:35 before returning home on Sunday to host Ft. Wayne at 5:30pm. All ticketholders are invited to skate with the players after Sunday's game, which is also the second annual food drive and Scout Night.
