Danbury Trashers News Release

Danbury, CT—The Trashers lone blemish this past week still earned Danbury a point as a 2-0-1 start to March was started with a 7-3 win over the defending Tarry Cup Champion Ft. Wayne Komets and concluded with a 4-2 win over Richmond.

If the season ended today, the Trashers would battle Kalamazoo in the first round of the Colonial Cup Playoffs, but Danbury still has their eye on the division lead, currently held by Adirondack with a UHL best 40-15-8 record for 88 points, seven ahead of the Trashers.

Following a franchise record five-game losing streak in February, the Trashers have utilized their stellar home ice advantage to an unbeaten 6-0-1 mark in the last seven home games and have built a 20 point lead over 3rd place Richmond, who are just 1-7-2 in their last ten games. Danbury's 25 home wins are tied with Muskegon for the most in the United Hockey League.

TRASHERS TIDBITS

• Alex Goupil continues his goal-scoring tear with 13 over the last nine games. During that span, he was only held once without a goal on February 27th, when the Trashers lost 2-1 in Adirondack. The 21-year-old Ottawa, Ontario native also added his 2nd hat trick of the season on March 2nd in the Trashers 7-3 win over Fort Wayne. Goupil's eight-game home goal scoring streak is the best in the UHL this season.

• The Trashers 7-3 win over Ft. Wayne gave Danbury a 4-0 season series sweep over the defending Tarry Cup Champions.

• Home dominance has been a key to the Trashers first-year success as Danbury is 25-6-3 at home vs. just 13-16-2 away from the Danbury Ice Arena. The Trashers have outscored their opponents 136-90 at home and are +236 as a team as opposed to –56 on the road. Danbury is 6-0-1 in their last seven games at home.

• Russell Spence has been a fine pickup for the Trashers off the waiver wire. The ex-Kalamazoo Wing has six points on three goals in his last six games for the Trashers including his 2nd multi-point (1G, 1A) in a Danbury uniform against Richmond last Saturday.

• J.F. David finished a strong week with two assists in three games with a +7 rating. The 3rd year pro from Blainville, PQ is 4th among all UHL defensemen with a +21 rating.
