LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO – This week the United Hockey League (UHL) saw outstanding three-goal performances by two players in each division.

In his 200th Fort Wayne career game, left wing P.C. Drouin lit the lamp with two power play goals and an empty-netter on Tuesday in the 3-0 shutout victory at Richmond. He is currently tied for first in the league with six game-winning goals and holds an individual season-high twelve game point streak.

Flint right wing Mike Kinnie recorded his second hat trick of the season and game-winning goal (including a power play and empty-netter) in Wednesday's 4-2 victory at Kalamazoo. He leads UHL rookies in goals (33) and in points (66), and is currently riding a three-game goal-scoring streak.

Danbury right wing Alex Goupil had an outstanding second period performance in the 7-3 victory over Fort Wayne on Wednesday. After he lit up the board at 4:53 of the second, less than 30 seconds later, and again with seven minute remaining, registered his second and third goals of the night. Goupil is fifth amongst UHL rookies with 19 goals and boasts the third best shooting percentage at .176 percent. He has the fourth best plus-minus rating amongst rookies at plus-16. He is currently riding a three-game goal-scoring streak, and an eight-game home goal-scoring and point streak.

Motor City center Sean Avery scored all three-goals versus Missouri on Saturday night. He is currently riding a four-game home goal-scoring streak. In eight games played, he has posted eight goals and three assists for 11 points and a plus-11 rating.

Right wing Joe Seroski netted his fourth hat trick of the season with two power plays and an even strength goal in Sunday's 4-3 victory against Rockford. Seroski is tied for second in the league with 15 power play goals, and is tied in third in shooting percentage at .201. He is currently riding a three-game goal-scoring streak, and leads the Outlaws with 33 goals and 22 assists on the season.

Elmira forward Nathan Gillies netted three goals in the first half of the middle session in the 9-4 home victory against Richmond on Sunday. On the season, he has 17 goals and 13 assists with four power play goals, one shorthanded and one game-winning goal.

UHL Trading Deadline The United Hockey League trading deadline is Friday, March 18, 2005 at 3:00 PM EST.

UHL Playoffs A total of eight (8) Member Clubs will qualify for the playoffs. The top two (2) Member Clubs in each of the three (3) divisions will be seeded one (1) through six (6) based on total points. The remaining two (2) spots will be filled by the next two (2) highest (total points) teams from any division. These two (2) teams will be seeded seven (7) and eight (8). Following the first round of the playoffs, the entire alignment will be re-seeded based on total points.

AROUND THE LEAGUE

Adirondack Frostbite - (1-0-2) – Heading into this week, the Frostbite are seven points ahead of Danbury for first in the East and have the best record in the UHL, two points better than the Muskegon Fury...The Frostbite are on a season high ten-game home point streak...The Frostbite are 26-3-5 when scoring first and 26-0-0 when leading after the second period...Adirondack has the second best goals for per game average at 3.41...Right wing Trevor Segstro is on a five-game goal-scoring streak...The Frostbite are third in the league in shots against per game allowing an average of 27.54...Forward Ryan Bennett is on a six-game point-scoring streak...Scott Drevitch is tied for first amongst defenseman in scoring with 48 points. After picking up two assists Saturday, Drevitch remains in ninth on the Adirondack (UHL) all-time points list with 104 points and tied for 10th on the Adirondack (UHL) all-time power play goals list...Bob Rapoza is one point away from 300 on his career and played in his 600th professional game on Saturday...Center Sylvain Cloutier is five games away from 800 and six assists away from 300 on his career.

Danbury Trashers - (2-0-1) – Right wing Alex Goupil continues his goal-scoring streak with 13 over the last nine games. During that span, he was only held once without a goal on February 27th, when the Trashers lost 2-1 in Adirondack. The 21-year-old Ottawa, Ontario native also added his second hat trick of the season on March 2nd in the Trashers 7-3 win over Fort Wayne. Goupil's eight-game home goal-scoring streak is the best in the UHL this season...The Trashers 7-3 win over Fort Wayne gave Danbury a 4-0 season series sweep over the defending Tarry Cup Champions...Danbury is 25-6-3 at home and 13-16-2 away from the Danbury Ice Arena this season. The Trashers have outscored their opponents 136-90 at home...Danbury is 6-0-1 in their last seven games at home...Forward Russell Spence, a former Kalamazoo Wing, has six points on three goals in his last six games for the Trashers including his second multi-point game (one goal, one assist) in a Danbury uniform against Richmond last Saturday...Defenseman J.F. David finished the week with two assists in three games with a plus-seven rating. The third year professional from Blainville, PQ is fourth amongst UHL defensemen with a plus-21 rating.

Elmira Jackals - (2-2-0) –With an assist Sunday against Richmond, center Eddy Lowe tied Randy Murphy on the Elmira Jackals all-time leading scorers list. In 347 career games for Elmira, Lowe has 219 points (111 goals, 108 assists)...The Jackals won two-of-four games this week, marking the first time Elmira has won multiple games in a week since they started 2005 with back-to-back wins on January 1st and 2nd...Right wing Jason Sessa regained his UHL lead in power play goals after lighting the lamp in Sunday's 9-4 victory over Richmond. Sessa has 16 power play goals on the season...The Jackals win on Sunday was their second highest margin of victory this season; their highest being the 9-2 victory over Richmond on November 27th...Elmira allowed their highest number of goals against in a single game this season in their 7-2 loss to Fort Wayne on Friday night. It also tied their worst margin of defeat when they lost 5-0 to Muskegon on January 8th.

Flint Generals - (2-1-0) – When right wing Mike Kinnie scores in a game, Flint's record is 13-9-3...The Generals have a 10-9-9 record against their Central Division rivals...Veteran right wing Kevin Miller added two assists in Flint's 6-2 victory over Missouri on Friday night...When scoring four goals or more in a game, Flint's record is 18-4-1; when scoring three goals or less, the Generals are 9-18-10...Flint is 8-0-1 when scoring five goals in a game...Flint's game against Motor City was a sellout, standing room only crowd of 4,421...Right wing Jim Duhart is 12 games shy of 800 on his professional career...Right wing Bobby Reynolds is three points shy of 900 on his career. When Reynolds scores in a game, Flint's record is 14-2-4; when right wing Rob Valicevic scores in a game, the Generals are 11-7-1...Flint has a record of 3-6 in their last nine home games.

Fort Wayne Komets - (2-2-0) – Fort Wayne earned two shutouts and six points on the road this week...The Komets hold first place in the Western Division with a 40-20-4 record for 84 points to lead second place Rockford by three...Goaltender Kevin St. Pierre recorded his fourth shutout of the season and second straight after beating Flint on Sunday...The Komets turned back the Jackals on Friday 7-2 to become the first UHL team this season to reach 40 wins...The Komets finished the Adirondack season series with a 2-1-0 record...Sean Venedam, P.C. Drouin, and Chris Grenville lead the Komets with six game-winning goals this season...Center Colin Chaulk made his 200th Fort Wayne appearance on Sunday in Adirondack...Center Adam Lewis posted his 100th career point with an assist on Wednesday at Danbury...Goaltender Kevin St. Pierre has made 399 career appearances, including 96 as a Komet, and has posted 99 UHL career wins.

Kalamazoo Wings - (1-2-0) – Defenseman Daniel Carriere is six assists shy of 100 on his career...Carriere played in his 200th career game on Friday versus Muskegon...Left wing Kevin Kotyluk played in his 200th career game on Saturday versus Quad City...Goaltender Chad Alban is tied for second in the UHL for wins with 27...Goaltender Joel Martin is second in the league with a save percentage of .930 and has posted a perfect record in his last four starts...Kalamazoo defeated Muskegon for the first time this season (1-7-0) last Friday with a 3-2 shootout win at Wings Stadium...Kalamazoo is 14-11-0 versus their own division...Kalamazoo has outscored their opponents 63-47 in the second period this season...The K-Wings are 20-1-1 when leading after the first period...Kalamazoo is 13-6-5 in games decided by one goal.

Kansas City Outlaws - (1-1-1) –Center Mark Lee and left wing Jason Ruff are each on four-game point streaks. Ruff has one goal and six assists and Lee one goal and four assists during the stretch...Goaltender Maxime Gingras has appeared in eight straight games, posting a 4-3-1 record. Gingras leads the league with seven shootout wins...Kansas City has not won consecutive home games since January 12th and 14th...With only five more games against the Central Division this season, the Outlaws are 11-14-1 in the division...Kansas City has nine home games and eight road games remaining this season...Kansas City is tied with Kalamazoo and Missouri for most shootout wins (9) and is tied with Fort Wayne and Port Huron for fewest shootout losses (4)...Kansas City has been outshot by their opponents in 50 of 63 games this season... Matthieu Descoteaux has the highest shooting percentage amongst UHL defensemen (13.7 percent)...The Outlaws have had four of their last seven games decided in a shootout, posting a 3-1 record.

Missouri River Otters - (1-2-0) – The River Otters currently hold the seventh overall playoff spot. They are five points behind Kalamazoo, Danbury and Rockford for the fourth spot, and 11 points ahead of Quad City and Flint...After their recent six-game road swing, the River Otters have more home than on the road the rest of the season. Eight of the squad's remaining 15 games will be at the Family Arena...Defenseman Mat Snesrud has registered ten assists in his last ten games, and leads all UHL defenseman with 39 assists. He is currently tied with Adirondack's Scott Drevitch for the league lead in points among defenseman with 48...Defenseman Barret Jackman is the only River Otter with a positive plus rating in the last ten games. Jackman is a plus-three over that span.

Motor City Mechanics - (2-1-0) – Mike Burgoyne registered his first two goals of the season versus Flint on Sunday...Forward Bryan Smolinski tallied six points this weekend in three games with a goal and five assists...The Mechanics are currently on a two-game win streak and post a 6-3-1 record in their last ten games...David Bonk is tied for second amongst UHL rookies with two shorthanded points...Kevin Hansen is tied for the lead amongst UHL defenseman with two shorthanded goals...The Mechanics have been outscored by their opponents 154 to 232 this season...Defenseman Chris Chelios is currently riding a seven-game assist and point streak.

Muskegon Fury - (1-0-1) – Muskegon's present home-winning streak has reached eight, the longest current home win streak in the UHL...With their 3-1 home win Sunday afternoon over Quad City, the Fury are now 5-0-0 at home this season in Sunday matinees...The Fury are just one win away from reaching 40 victories for this third time in four years, the sixth time in the last eight years, and the eighth time in the last 11 seasons...Right wing Robin Bouchard (643) has climbed into fourth place on the UHL's all-time games played list...Center Todd Robinson posted the 109th goal of his Fury career in Sunday's home win over Quad City. He is within one goal of tying Mark Turner (110) for sixth place, and four goals from tying Paul Kelly (113) for fifth place on the Fury's all-time list...Goaltender Sylvain Daigle (145-79-24) has tied Sergei Zvyagin (145) for third place on the UHL's all-time wins list...Left wing Brant Blackned (322) is just three goals away from tying Paul Polollo (325) for fifth place on the UHL's all-time goal-scoring list. He has also climbed into fourth place on the UHL's all-time game-winning goals list with 45...The Fury have not lost a home game this season against the Central Division posting a 13-0-0 record...Muskegon has allowed three goals against or less in 51 of their first 62 games so far this season.

Port Huron Beacons – (2-1-0) – Kyle Sheen is second amongst UHL rookies with 185 penalty minutes...Port Huron has the second best road power play in the league at 19.1 percent...Gabriel Proulx is tied for second amongst UHL defenseman with 11 goals, and is fourth in shooting percentage at .092...In games when the Beacons have scored first, they post a 20-14-1 record...Ian Jacobs and Andrew Shier are each on three-game assist streaks.

Quad City Mallards - (3-1-0) – Forward Mike Kompon scored the first shorthanded goal of his professional career on Sunday in Muskegon...Netminder Robert Gherson has won each of his last five decisions. During that time, Gherson has stopped 119 of 126 shots (.944 save percentage) recording a 1.53 goals against average, and posting three of four road wins...The Mallards completed a five-game winning streak, the longest win streak for the Mallards this season. During the winning streak, the Mallards scored a least one power play goal in each game. The team went 9-43 (20.9%) on the power play during the win streak...The Mallards are 19-9-4 this season when they score a power play goal.

Richmond RiverDogs – (1-3-0) – Left wing David Hymovitz is second in the league with 79 points...Nathan Grobins is fifth in the league in shootout percentage with 20 saves in 26 opportunities for 76.9 percent...Goaltender Brent Belecki held Danbury without a goal in five rounds of Friday's shootout...Luch Nasato is tied for second in the league amongst defenseman with 39 points...Richmond is third in the league with a 18.8 power play percentage...Center Mark Langdon registered three goals and an assist in last week's action...Ivan Curic is third amongst UHL rookies with 31 minor penalties...The RiverDogs are 22-20-3 against Eastern Division opponents; they are 6-11-2 outside of their division...Richmond has outscored opponents in the first period this season 73-69.

Rockford IceHogs - (1-1-0) – Goaltender Michel Robinson set a new club record Thursday with his 27th win of the season. Robinson now leads the league in minutes and appearances and is second in wins and shutouts...For the first time all season, the IceHogs have played more road games than home games...Rockford blew a two-goal lead Sunday for the second time this season...Winger J.F. Dufour picked up his team leading 20 multi-point game on Sunday...For the second straight week, the IceHogs will play two games and will have Friday and Saturday night off...The IceHogs will play six of their next eight games at home, beginning Wednesday against Quad City.

SHER-WOOD PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Flint right wing Mike Kinnie completed the week with seven points (5g, 2a) and a plus-two rating in three games. In Wednesday's 4-2 victory at Kalamazoo, he recorded his second hat trick of the season (including a power play and empty-netter) figuring in all four goals scored. Returning home on Friday, he tallied a goal and an assist in the 6-2 win over Missouri, and in Sunday's game against Motor City, hit the back of the net on the man-advantage for his 33rd goal and 12th power play goal of the season.

Currently he leads UHL rookies in goals (33) and in points (66). With 15 power play goals on the season, he is ranked first among rookies and second overall in the UHL. He holds the second best shooting percentage in the league with a .213 conversion rate on 155 shots. He is third amongst rookies in assists (33), and is tied for second in power play assists (12). In 104 collegiate games with Ferris State University (NCAA), he registered 29 goals and 31 assists. The 22-year-old Shelby Township, Michigan native is currently in his first professional season with the Flint Generals and is riding a three-game goal-scoring streak.

SOUTHERN SPORTS SUPPLY UHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK

Quad City's Robert Gherson finished the week with a 3-0-0 record, 2.00 GAA and .936 save percentage. In Tuesday night's 4-3 shootout win at Kansas City, he turned away 16 of 19 regulation shots on goal. On Friday, he allowed only one goal against to secure the 2-1 victory at Motor City, and on Saturday, made 37 saves to register the 5-2 win over the K-Wings. He is currently second amongst UHL leading goaltenders with a 15-9-5 record, a 2.30 goals against average, and .924 save percentage.

Over four seasons, he played 189 games in the Ontario Hockey League recording a 69-83-22 record with a 3.29 goals against average and a .899 save percentage. He spent three seasons with the Sarnia Sting and last season with the Owen Sound Attack. In the 2002-03 season, he finished in the OHL's top-10 for wins (third with 26), save percentage (eighth with .915), and goals against average (ninth with 2.78). Gherson was also selected by the Washington Capitals in the fifth (145th overall) round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

Flint left wing Jay Henderson who was called-up to the Providence Bruins at the start of the UHL season, has notched five goals and eight assists in fifty-eight games played...Kalamazoo left wing Ryan Barnes continues to play for the Grand Rapids Griffins with nine points (4g, 5a) in 47 games played... Kalamazoo center Kory Karlander has been with the Griffins since late September posting one goal and two assists in thirty-one games played...Danbury forward John Morlang has played twenty-seven games with Bridgeport tallying two goals and six assists...Rockford defenseman Tim Wedderburn has played in forty-seven games with Chicago posting a plus-fourteen rating with eight assists...
