
Generals welcome area youngsters to matinee game

FLINT, MI - The Flint Generals played host to the Muskegon Fury today in a special morning start time of 11:00 a.m. at Perani's Arena. Although the outcome was not what the Generals was hoping for in a 3-2 loss, the organization welcomed 1200 students to the hockey game.
This special starting time was designed to give our area students and kids an introduction to Flint Generals Pro Hockey and the excitement that the United League has to offer. Before the game, Generals' Vice President & Head Coach, Robbie S. Nichols and NBC-TV 25 Sports Director Marc Jacobson addressed the students from center ice.
After the first period, Player/Assistant Coach, Bobby Reynolds came out in uniform to speak to the youngsters stressing the importance of education. He also spoke about the teachers, administrators and parents who serve as role models to the youngsters and how they will lead our kids in the right direction.
The Generals would like to thank the following elementary schools for joining us on this special day for the kids in our community: Barhitte, Dye, Woodland, Randals, Freeman, St. John's of Fenton, Marion Crouse, Johnson AAA Out Center, Dukette Catholic, Deick, Morrish, Shiawassee County Mental Health, Eisenhower and Vestaburg.
The Generals would send special thanks to several local businesses and their owners for the time and efforts to make this day a complete success. Those businesses were headline sponsor for our game today. They include: Little Caesars Pizza, Krogers, Sam's Club, and Krispy Kreme.
The Flint Generals would also like to thank members of the Booster Club and the Employees of Sunshine Management at Perani's Arena for their help and preparation to make the day's events one that was enjoyable for everyone.
The Generals return home to host the Elmira Jackals on Friday, March 11, 2005 at Perani's Arena at 7:35 p.m. Tickets are on sale at any TicketMaster location.
