Montreal Alouettes News Release

Montreal - Time flies, even when you're at training camp taking part in daily back-to-back practices. Proof of this comes from the Montreal Alouettes' own training camp, whose second week of practices will already be getting underway as of tomorrow.

The Alouettes' first week of camp, which was marked by lots of sunshine and very warm temperatures, ended on a cool day at Coulter Field in Sherbrooke on Saturday, in front of about a hundred supporters. It was also a success, according to defensive assistant coach Jean-Marc Edme.

"We are very happy with what we saw so far this week. The guys were intense and we are pleased with the effort that they put in", said the versatile coach.

Last year's camp barely lasted two weeks and players who needed to make an impression had very little time to do so. This year, camp is longer and rookies are getting the opportunity to take more precious reps, thus increasing their odds of impressing the coaching staff.

"Guys are getting lots of reps during practices and are taking full advantage of the opportunity that has been presented to them. Furthermore, even with all the time they get on the field, we've also been able to integrate 80% of our playbook for the upcoming season thus far. Starting now however, we are going to put ourselves into game mode, so that we can get ourselves ready for our first game on Thursday," added Edme, a former Vanier Cheetah.

The Alouettes' first pre-season game of the season will take place Thursday evening at Percival Molson Stadium, when the Winnipeg Blue Bombers will be in town. The game represents a perfect opportunity for fans to come out and see the Alouettes' newcomers in action for the first time. Tickets for the game are on sale now and can be purchased by visiting MontrealAlouettes.com or by calling 514-790-1245.

Tomorrow Training camp will resume on Sunday at Coulter Field at Bishop's University, with a single practice starting at 2:30 p.m. and which should end around 4:45 p.m.

Please note that all times are subject to change.
