Montreal Alouettes News Release

Sherbrooke, Juin 18, 2011 - WalterSpencer continues to defy the odds and not allow injuries to defer him from completing training camp. And so, Spencer and the Alouettes were back in Sherbrooke following a short stint in Montreal and resumed training on a rainy Saturday morning at the Centre MultiSport Roland-Dussault.

Spencer practiced, albeit in a limited role, working on strength and conditioning drills on the sideline following an elbow injury sustained in the third quarter of the pre-season opener.

"Right now it's a day-to day thing, nothing major," said Spencer following his first workout since playing in the pre-season opener in Montreal. "It's just a bruise and the results came back negative. The coaches told me to take a couple of practices off," he added.

Spencer was initially diagnosed with a sprain and cleared to return to Bishop's University, however he was later called back to Montreal for further testing.

"It is great to have Walter back, but we are taking precautions with him. He will not practice this week nor will he play in Hamilton," said Head Coach Marc Tresman. "His elbow popped out and back in. So the time off is protocol."

Spencer has had a terrific camp thus far and the coaching staff and players alike are taking notice.

"Simply outstanding," said Trestman of Spencer's efforts and performance over the past two weeks. "He came to camp in shape and has hit the ground running. We are hopeful that he can heal up within the next week."

New arrivals

Sidelined since the beginning of camp because he was recovering from a surgery performed on his shoulder in the off season, Kerry Carter joined his teammates on Saturday.

The Alouettes also added import defensive lineman Jabari Fletcher as well as import wide receiver Brandon Walker-Roby to their roster.

Releases

The Alouettes released receivers Eugene Jarvis and Matt Lambros, as well as offensive lineman Carl Spitale.
