Montreal Alouettes News Release
Trois-Rivières - A few hours prior to the team's intra-squad game, the intensity went up a few notches during Sunday's Alouettes' practice, as the defence had its fair share of nice plays.
The church bells hadn't even rung that the defensive squad's aggressiveness was on full display at Stade Diablos. In the first game simulation, Rodney Randle Jr. and Adarius Pickett broke up the offence's first two plays. Darius Williams made a pick when the team was practicing pass plays.
"Things are starting to slow down for us on defence. The communication has been great. We're able to play fast and make plays all over the field. We'll have to continue to build on that, especially when we are competing daily against a talented offence," said veteran linebacker Chris Ackie.
The offence will do everything to bounce back in the team's intra-squad game, which is set to take place at 7:00 PM on Monday, at Stade Diablos.
"The defence did well on Sunday, and I feel like we are going to come out and make some big plays tomorrow. The young guys will step it up. We'll need to match the defence's intensity and I'm excited to see everyone compete," declared receiver Eugene Lewis.
Fans won't want to miss that game. Festivities will begin at 4:00 PM with a pre-game party in the Stade Diablos parking lot.
He said it...
"Our unit is successful because all the guys on the defensive line are tight. I love the work ethic of my teammates. It's probably one of the camps I've liked the most since I started pro football."
- Mike Moore, defensive tackle
Rapid fire..
If the defence seemed to have the upper hand on Sunday, that didn't prevent the offence from making plays worthy of mention, including receiver Krishawn Hogan, who caught a Trevor Harris pass before gaining precious yards after the catch... Taku Lee made a few impressive runs, as did Avery Ellis... Trevor Harris used his legs to gain close to 40 yards. He was cheered on by his teammates who were surprised that he had that play in his repertoire... Although accustomed to his spectacular plays, fans jumped out of their seat when Eugene Lewis made a great catch in the second practice, while Quan Bray put his athleticism on full display when he caught a Davis Alexander pass... Running back Jeshrun Antwi had a good day at practice. His runs were explosive and he showed great confidence with the football in his hands.
