Towering Prospect Juan Returns to Lansing

Lansing Lugnuts News Release

The Lansing Lugnuts announced the following roster change, in conjunction with the Oakland Athletics:

- Pitcher Jorge Juan finishes MiLB rehab assignment and is transferred to Lansing from Single-A Stockton

- Pitcher Mac Lardner placed on Covid IL

Juan, 23, is one of the most eye-catching, high-ceiling pitching prospects in the Athletics' organization. The 6-foot-8 right-hander broke out in 2021, striking out 31 batters in 21 innings for Stockton before receiving a midseason call-up to the Lugnuts. Unfortunately, his stint in Michigan's state capital lasted only two appearances, striking out nine in 5 2/3 innings, before he was placed on the Injured List. He made his return to the mound on July 22, making two dominant appearances in the Arizona Complex League totaling four scoreless innings with eight strikeouts. He is currently rated MLB Pipeline's No. 24 Athletics prospect, featuring a fastball that touches 99 mph complemented by a vicious curve.

The Lansing Lugnuts (13-19, 38-60) play the third game in a six-game series with the West Michigan Whitecaps (22-10, 53-45) on a Labatt Blue Thirsty Thursday at 7:05 p.m. tonight at Jackson® Field™. For more information, call (517) 485-4500 or visit lansinglugnuts.com.
