(Rome, GA) Kiel Roling hit his 11th homerun of the season in the first inning and Asheville never trailed in a 6-2 win on Friday to extend their winning streak to five games. The five consecutive wins ties the clubs longest streak of the season which was also in the month of July. Juan Nicasio tossed seven solid innings to improve to 6-1 on the year.

Asheville broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth when Jimmy Cesario doubled with the bases loaded. With two outs Beau Seabury and Thomas Field worked back-to-back walks. Scott Robinson then reached on an error to load the bases. Cesario delivered one of three hits on the game pushing Asheville up 5-2 through six innings.

Roling homered with Jimmy Cesario on first base in the first inning to give Asheville a 2-0 lead. Rome countered with a solo homerun from leftfielder Adam Miligan in the first. Nicasio would then put down 11 consecutive Braves batters heading into the 5th inning. Nicasio finished with seven innings and just two runs, no walks and five strikeouts.

Asheville had base runners on in each inning but Rome managed to maneuver through trouble with three double plays turned on the night. The Braves tied things up at 2-2 in the fifth inning with a double form centerfielder Calvin Culver.

On a rehab assignment from Double-A Tulsa Shane Lindsay made his Tourists 2009 debut in the 8th inning. Lindsay struck out the first batter and hit and walked the next three to load the bases. Lindsay then struck out Milligan and Matt Kennelly to end the inning.

Asheville will play game three from Rome at 7:05 on Saturday night with Dan Houston (5-7, 3.73)) on the mound. Asheville finishes the month of July with an 18-11 record, their first wining month of the season. All the action can be heard on WRES FM 100.7 or online at www.theashevilletourists.com
