Augusta GreenJackets News Release
Augusta, GA - The Greenville Drive turned a 2-0 game into a laugher, scoring four times in the seventh and three times in the eighth to come away with a 10-4 win over the Augusta GreenJackets in the second of a four-game series at Lake Olmstead Stadium Friday night.
Greenville sent eight to the plate in the seventh and seven to the plate in the eighth, with Jered Stanley's three-run home run in the seventh doubling the lead for the Drive to 6-0. The Jackets had a chance in the seventh with the bases loaded and one out and Francisco Peguero at the plate. He would bounce into a double play to kill the threat before the Drive plated three more in the eighth to put the game out of reach.
Jeremy Hazelbaker drove in three with two hits for the Drive while Zach Gentile drove in a pair with his two hits. Will Middlebrooks, Pete Hissey and Mitch Dening also had multi-hit games for Greenville as part of a 15-hit Drive onslaught.
Augusta scored twice in the eighth on Juan Perez's RBI double in the eighth and Charlie Culberson's ensuing run-scoring single. The Jackets plated two more in the ninth on Josh Mazzola's two-out single and Andy D'Alessio's ground rule double down the left-field line. Greenville turned three double plays in the last five innings of the game to kill any Augusta rally.
Mike Loree (7-7) pitched well in five innings, allowing two runs on four hits with a walk and five strikeouts. Fabian Williamson also turned things over to the bullpen early for Greenville. Williamson (7-3) got the win with a seven-inning outing, throwing three-hit, shutout ball against the GreenJackets with three walks and four strikeouts.
With the series split at a game each, the Jackets will send Aaron King (4-5, 3.70) to the mound to face Stolmy Pimentel (9-5, 3.11). The evening will feature a postgame fireworks show, sponsored by Taylor BMW and Eagle 105.7. First pitch comes at 7:05 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on WRDW AM 1630 and online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com. You may purchase seats by calling 706-922-WINS or online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com.
