Greensboro, NC - Ashville (7-3) displayed their power on Saturday night as Kevin Clark, Helder Velasquez, Spence Nagy and Lars Davis all hit homeruns in a 7-3 victory. Asheville took a 4-0 lead on a two-run homer by Lars Davis in the fourth inning, with the team combining for 11 hits in the win.
Bruce Billings pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed three runs on eight hits in a no decision. Edgmer Escalona (1-0) entered in the fifth and picked up the final two outs of the frame to get the win. Craig Baker pitched two scoreless innings and Craig Rodriguez and Randall Taylor pitched the ninth to finish the contest. Taylor recorded the final three out to earn his third save of the season.
The Grasshoppers (6-4) stranded 14 runners on base and recorded 13 hits in the loss. Starting pitcher Colby Miller (0-2) pitched four innings and allowed three runs in the effort for Greensboro.
The win snaps a two game skid for the Tourists and the two teams will play tomorrow at 5:05 PM. The game can be heard on WRES FM 100.7 FM or on the internet.
