HAGERSTOWN, MD - Hagerstown's bullpen unraveled to allow six runs in a 7-3 loss to the Delmarva Shorebirds at Municipal Stadium Sunday afternoon.

The culmination of the groups struggles came in the eighth inning with Chandler Day (BS, L, 2-2) on the bump. The Vanderbilt-product allowed four singles in five batters starting with one out in the frame to move the Shorebirds from behind 3-2 to in front 5-3. The next batter, Cadyn Grenier smoked a ball over the right field wall to push Delmarva (57-23, 9-2) in front 7-3.

The Suns (33-48, 3-8) dropped the game after receiving an incredible start from Jake Irvin . Irvin got the no decision after outdueling Drew Rom through five innings. The righty allowed just one run off four hits, while fanning a career-high-tying eight batters.

The bats got going early in the game too. Hagerstown loaded the bases in the fourth when Cody Wilson poked a base knock up the middle to break the scoreless tie with two outs on the board. Next, Justin Connell drew a walk to score Tyler Cropley to push the Suns in front 2-0.

After Delmarva scored in the top of the sixth following a Ryan Williamson strikeout and wild pitch that allowed Grenier to score, the Suns added one in the bottom half of the inning. Wilson drew a lead-off walk from Gray Fenter (W, 6-1) before Gilbert Lara came through with a two-out single to put Hagerstown in front 3-1. The RBI was Lara's team-leading 48th of the year.

Tomorrow Hagerstown starts a new series against the Greensboro Grasshoppers. The Suns have yet to announce their starter, while the Grasshoppers will throw RHP Steven Jennings (5-7, 4.98 ERA).
