WINNIPEG, MB - The biggest Manitoba social the West Coast has ever seen will take place FRIDAY, NOV. 25 in Vancouver. That's when this year's TOUCHDOWN MANITOBA celebration will take place during Grey Cup Week.
Fans are encouraged to get their tickets early for this much-anticipated annual event that combines Winnipeg's renowned hospitality, our Friendly Manitoba reputation and the excitement of Grey Cup week and rolls it up into one afternoon of non-stop fun. Touchdown Manitoba organizers are thrilled to also celebrate the return of the Grey Cup to Winnipeg in 2006.
Those attending Touchdown Manitoba will be treated to a non-stop entertainment lineup featuring one of Vancouver's favorite party bands, Faith and Desire, featuring Manitoba's own Cathy St. Germain, a music DJ and performances by guest entertainers including the Blue Lightning Dance Team and the Winnipeg Police Pipe Band.
Ticket prices include a special limited edition Touchdown Manitoba 2005 lapel pin (while supplies last) and all of the traditional delicacies of an authentic Manitoba social including kolbasa and rye bread. Attendees will also have the opportunity to win some fantastic prizes. Tickets are only $10 in advance and are on sale now at Ticketmaster. They can also be purchased at the door for $12.
"Touchdown Manitoba combines one of Manitoba's greatest traditions - the social - with all the fun and frenzy of Grey Cup week," said Touchdown Manitoba president Cathy Garski. "I encourage everyone to get their tickets early because we expect another sellout crowd to party with us in Vancouver."
A legacy of the first Winnipeg Grey Cup Festival in 1991, Touchdown Manitoba Inc. is an independent, non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to promoting Winnipeg and Manitoba, and maintaining a grassroots presence for the city and province every year at the Grey Cup.
Volunteers work throughout the year to accomplish this goal by organizing Touchdown Manitoba, a huge Manitoba-style social held annually in the Grey Cup host city as part of the festivities leading up to the big game. The inaugural Touchdown Manitoba social was held in Calgary during Grey Cup week in1993. Since then, Touchdown Manitoba has established a reputation as one of the "don't miss" parties of Grey Cup week.
