Daytona Tortugas News Release
Daytona Beach, FL - The Daytona Tortugas scored their most runs in 20 games, beating the Dunedin Blue Jays, 7-1, Friday night at Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. The seven runs is only bested by the 10 runs scored by Dayton in their second game of the season. Blake Butler homered and drove in a season-high four runs.
Daytona scored in the first inning for the first time in 13 games, when a Jason Leblebijian error at third base allowed Blake Trahan to cross home. The Tortugas loaded up the bases with the help of three walks.
Daytona would add on in the fourth when Aristides Aquino drilled his third home run of the homestand deep to left field off RHP Tom Robson. The Tortugas were back at it in the fifth inning, when a Butler infield single drove in his first run of the night. A second run scored on the play when shortstop Richard Urena airmailed the throw past first base, allowing Aquino to trot home.
Butler would then break the game open in the seventh, when he drilled his fourth career home run, a three run shot, to left field off RHP Brad Allen.
Dunedin eventually got on the board, scoring for the first time in 11 innings, when Ryan McBroom homered against RHP Jake Ehret in the top of the eighth.
RHP Tyler Mahle (2-1) earned the win, striking out seven in six scoreless innings. Robson (1-2) took the loss, allowing four runs in 4 2/3 innings. It was the seventh time in Robson's last eight starts that he failed to make it through the fifth inning.
