PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (July 26, 2015) - The Daytona Tortugas clobbered the St. Lucie Mets 16-4 on Sunday afternoon at Tradition Field.

The Tortugas set season highs in runs and hits (19) and took advantage of four Mets errors by scoring eight unearned runs.

The 16 runs were the most allowed by the Mets this season. The 12-run margin of defeat tied last week's 12-0 loss to Charlotte for the biggest loss of the season.

All nine batters got a hit for Daytona. Eight of the nine hitters in the order scored while seven of the nine drove in a run. The Tortugas scored in seven of their nine innings.

Sebastian Elizalde, Daniel Pigott, Taylor Spark and Joe Hudson had three hits apiece. Elizalde, the FSL RBI leader, drove in four runs and hit a two-run homer.

Alex Blandino hit a home run and drove in three runs.

The game was within reach for the Mets after two innings when they only trailed 5-3. However, the Tortugas scored a run in the third and fourth to go up 7-3. They broke it wide open with five runs, three earned, off of Paul Paez in the sixth.

Daytona added two in the seventh and two in the eighth.

Casey Meisner took the loss for the Mets. He hung in for five innings but allowed nine hits and seven runs (three earned) while walking four.

Paez gave up seven hits and seven runs (four earned) in two innings.

Tortugas starter Jackson Stephens picked up his ninth win. The Mets tagged him for nine hits and four earned runs in five innings but his offense gave him plenty of room to work with.

Offensively the Mets collected 10 hits. Four came from leadoff hitter Yeixon Ruiz. Phil Evans went 2 for 3 with a double and two runs scored.

The Mets (49-50, 14-15) and Tortugas (54-44, 17-11) continue their series at Tradition Field on Monday at 6:30 p.m. It is Kid's Night with all kids 12 and under receiving free admission.
